Blue Button

Did you know that on some London buses there are two different buttons to alert the driver that you’d like them to let you off at the next stop?  There are the standard red ones and then there is a blue one near the centre of the bus lower down for people in wheelchairs to use.

Did you also know that if you are too lazy to raise your arm 6 inches to press the red button and instead use the blue one, you don’t hear a gentle “Ding” noise?  No, surprisingly (to me anyway) you hear a very loud whooping noise alerting the driver that he needs to stop and extend the wheelchair ramp onto the curb for you?

Did you know bus drivers don’t like it when you do that?

I do now.
